Pre School Workshop

The Pre School Workshop series helps meet the community’s need for continuing educational opportunities.  Topics presented have been varied.  Presenters offer education in areas such as music & movement, art, child abuse & neglect, literacy, math, science and play.  There continues to be a need for high quality continuing education programing and we are proud to help educate the caring men and women who are instilling the high values and knowledge in our leaders of tomorrow.

We host a one-day workshop on trending topics for area daycare/preschool providers and teachers.  CEUs provided.

Linda Dunlap Cosey Essay Contest

The Lynda Dunlap Cosey Scholarship program honors outstanding high school senior girls in the greater Baton Rouge area for their outstanding academic achievements. Up to five $1,000 cash scholarships will be awarded based on the completion of a written essay with scoring of 80% and above, academic excellence.

Aleria's Promise Domestic Violence Prevention Program

The initiative was created following the murder of a member, Aleria Cyrus Reed,  January 15, 2014. 

The initiative focuses on awareness, education, direct services, and prevention programs to end the devastating cycle of domestic violence through three program areas: outreach prevention and direct services (funding to Iris Domestic Violence Center. 

The Aleria’s Promise Domestic Violence Advocacy Award is a service award given annually by the Aleria’s Promise initiative to individuals who endeavor to improve the quality of life of domestic violence victims in Louisiana through legislative, legal, and/or community advocacy.

Dream Makers Mentoring Programs

Dream Makers caters to 6th-12th grade girls. The program seeks to provide enrichment activities in the areas of: 

Leadership Skills
Cultural Awareness
Conflict Resolution
Health and Wellness
Community Service

The program spans the course of the traditional academic year. The group meets the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10am-12pm, unless otherwise noted. Occasionally additional activities are held to enhance the program experience in other service areas
