STAY SAFE, STAY HEALTHY, STAY INFORMED
A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT

To:                   Nu Gamma Omega Educational and Charitable Foundation Members and Stakeholders

From:              Linda Daniel, Foundation Board President

Date:               April 1, 2020

Re:                   COVID-19 and Foundation Updates

We are living in a truly unprecedented time. While the coronavirus (COVID-19) has been affecting communities in our region today we are hard pressed to find a state, region, country that is not currently dealing with it and learning how to stop the spread and help "flatten the curve."

This virus is severely impacting the world's health and economics. Here in the United States, governors around the country are declaring mandatory stay-at-home orders and non-essential business closures. Europe, Asia and Latin America are facing the same declarations from the effects of COVID-19.

We keep hearing about a "new normal" but the truth is – none of this is normal. We are dealing with situations none of us ever anticipated.  We look to the medical community, government officials, and to experts to complete the picture and to provide clear, direct answers where there are none. And during all of this, we can't help but wonder - is there any certainty in the world today?

You know what I say to that? Yes. There is. The human spirit and our ingenuity, creativity, and compassion for others is alive and well. We see this every day as Foundation members around the world come together. Through social media, Webinars and so much more, we are sharing best practices, ideas, and having candid, important conversations. We are supporting, partnering with local, national organizations to help preserve and protect. We are planning. We are preparing. We are working...for you.

STAYING INFORMED

The Foundation is committed to following recommendations from recognized health authorities, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

TAKING CARE OF OUR TEAM & COMMUNITY
In order to do our part in preventing further spread of COVID-19 and in an attempt to help flatten the curve, our team will be working remotely.

POSTPONING PLANNED EVENTS
With the support of our board of directors, and in line with CDC recommendations, The Foundation will be postponing our Debutante Cotillion and other in-person programs scheduled through April 30, 2020. We are grateful for the support of our members, stakeholders, partners, and those currently registered to attend our events, and we look forward to rescheduling these programs at a later date, as the Louisiana Governor’s Proclamation is so ordered. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused thank you for your understanding and look forward to your participation in re-scheduled events.

Our top priority is the health and safety of all members and stakeholders. The CDC: Home Prevention Guidelines is a good resource if you are looking for more information regarding Coronavirus and what you should know.

LEARNING FROM ONE ANOTHER DURING THIS TIME
In an effort to keep one another informed, we welcome ideas and updates from members and nonmembers on their experiences facing and responding to COVID-19 in their communities. We are building a dedicated resource page on our website and developing a COVID-19 online video review communications section so persons can remain informed.

The crisis will end. And from this experience, we will learn new things, and discover new ways to innovate and adapt in ways we never thought possible. Now is the time to keep the faith, stand strong amidst adversity and, most importantly, stay connected.

The Foundation team is here to serve and help you, every step of the way. Please reach out to us so we can provide you with current information and connect you with others. I believe in the human spirit's ability to adapt and to help one another. Together our shared passion and focus will help us all to recover and take the mission of the Foundation to new heights.

As the country prepares to mitigate the outcomes we might face, this is the time for unity, faith and hope. Please visit our website www.ngoeacf.org or the website for Nu Gamma Omega Chapter www.akanugammaomega.com and stay informed.
